Arts | Album celebrates UNESCO listing

2The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) has launched a photo album titled “Where the World Heritage Shines – Photographs of the Historic Centre of Macau” to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inscription of the city’s Historic Centre on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
According to a press release, the album places emphasis on the photographs of the Historic Centre of Macau, but also includes descriptions of the images, introductions for the historic heritage sites and interviews with the author.
Chan Hin Io, a renowned local photographer, has focused on festivities and religious activities relating to the sites featured in the album. The photos not only depict the city’s mix of Eastern and Western cultures, but also reflect the community’s close connection with the historic center.
The book intends to show the richness of Macau’s World Heritage and its charm through various angles, shooting times and backgrounds, featuring a range of concepts and compositions. Aside from gaining a new perspective of the city’s world heritage sites, readers of the album can now better grasp the changes that the Historic Centre of Macau has gone through and discover the stories behind the photographs.
