BRIEFS: Forecast predicts temperature to plunge mid-week

The winter has finally arived, with the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) predicting that temperatures will drop to as low as 12 degrees this Thursday. SMG told TDM that the winter monsoon will arrive on the south coast of China today, bringing scattered showers and north wind to Macau. It predicts that the temperature will drop to 17 degrees tonight before it further plunges to 14 degrees tomorrow night. The bureau also forecasts that the monsoon will return in the middle of the week and will bring the temperature down to around 12 degrees.

Red tide at Hac Sa Beach

The Marine and Water Bureau has confirmed that the sea water at Hac Sa Beach and Long Chao Kok turned pink yesterday, as the result of a red tide. The bureau said that it had already dispatched staff to inspect, and claimed that there was no immediate need to close the beach. Red tides are not uncommon in Macau. There were at least two reports of red tide in 2013. The previously reported red tide took place in February this year at the water near the Coloane power plant.

Lusa says new gov’t today

The composition of the new government will be announced today, according to Lusa news agency, citing “an official source.” Confirming previous reports, Lusa validates  the list published by Ou-Mun Daily News last month, according to which all the incumbent secretaries and most of the other top posts will be replaced.
