CCM to launch ‘ARTmusing Summer’ next month

The Cultural Center (CCM) is set to launch a new edition of “ARTmusing Summer,” with a vast range of performances and workshops for children scheduled from late June to late August. Tickets for all performances will be on sale from Sunday at CCM’s box office and Macao Ticketing Network outlets.
Atofri Theatre, a leading children’s company from Poland, will run a paper-craft workshop, “Mr Satie Made in Paper,” from June 30 to July 3. According to a CCM press release, children aged one to three years old will be encouraged to play games as well as solve mysteries and riddles together while stimulated by Satie’s magical rhythms.
An Australian acrobatic performance, “Carnival of the Animals,” will be shown on July 9 to 10 and will depict various animals coming alive, like 3D pages from a picture book. Acrobats will bring this classical music suite to life as they interact with the video animations.

From July 21 to 24, “Hup,” a piece by Edinburgh-based company Starcatchers, in association with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, will allow children to “discover sounds and shapes in a sonata for two violins, one cello and a very cheeky raccoon.”
A jovial and theatrical performance combining puppetry with video installations, titled “Chook & Gek,” will also be shown from July 23 to 24. The comedy performance is based on a classic children’s tale by the Russian writer Arkady Gaidar.
Another family musical that will hit the stage with a display of life-size puppets will be held on August 6 to 7, organized by the Dutch company Theatre Terra. The production is titled “Spot”, and is an endearing family musical for children aged 2 and above.
Scottish company Curious Seed will present two performers on stage from August 27 to 28, in a “funny, emotional and unpredictable” dance theatre piece called “Chalk About.”
“ARTmusing Summer” will come to a close with “ARTmusing Fun,” a celebration that will gather both children and parents at the cultural centre on August 28 with various workshops, performances and games.
