Chan Meng Kam reacts to vote-buying arrests

Chan-Meng-Kam“The law has been selectively applied,” said Chan Meng Kam yesterday, reacting for the first time to the recent arrest of two members of his 2013 electoral campaign on charges of vote-buying. The lawmaker said that there is no evidence of vote-buying and that the law “should be the same for all.” He also said that he had talked with the two who have been charged: “They are two elderly members, aged over 70 years. One of them has been a teacher for 40 years and told me that she doesn’t believe in the law anymore. Two elderly people saying this? This must make us think about how laws are applied.”
