DSEJ responds to alleged embezzlement case

The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) has issued a statement following the alleged embezzlement of educational grants committed by a high-ranking official from a school in the São Lourenço district. In response to the accusations made by the New Macau Association (ANM), the bureau reiterated that the school, which receives the educational funds for admitting students with special needs, is under tight supervision. However, the statement failed to mention if an inquiry would be launched into the claim. According to ANM, a local school has been taking educational grants worth MOP6 million, however, the teaching staff responsible for students with special needs there received around MOP20,000 as remuneration while the salary of the top management could reach 6 digits.

Dealer steals chips worth MOP120,000

A laid-off croupier allegedly turned himself in to the Judiciary Police (PJ) after successfully stealing MOP120,000 worth of casino chips from the casino where he used to work. His surrender on Tuesday came after the casino filed a crime report complaint with the police. According to the PJ, the perpetrator, a local surnamed Iu, aged 29, sneaked into the casino located in Cotai through a staff passage and pretended to be working at a gaming table during the shift change after donning a dealer’s uniform. He then snatched the chips before fleeing the scene.The man was said to have been unemployed since his dismissal by the casino at the end of last year.
