Ex-NBA player visits students at local schools

A delegation made up of former NBA star Zack Jones and other basketball players from Germany visited several local schools and a Christian organization in the region recently.

Organized by the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Macau, Jones was given the opportunity during the two-day visit to share his personal story about the challenges he experienced on the court to become an NBA player.

He told students that despite being cut three times in two different continents within one and a half month, he continued on to finally become an NBA player, according to a press release issued by the YMCA.

A team made up of three basketball players visiting from Munich, Germany, and YMCA members from Hong Kong and Macau played games against local school teams.

Through this experience, the local student players were given the opportunity to play against professionals and hear the former NBA player’s story.

This two-day event had a total of over 1,000 participants, including students and teachers from Macau Baptist College, Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School, and Christian Sheun Tao Church Hong Kong & Macau District Union Association.

Jones, together with his wife and the German basketball players, will continue sharing their inspirational speeches
