Fire Services perform rescue drill on Guia Hill cable car

The Fire Services (CB) conducted a joint operation with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) to undertake a rescue drill on Guia Hill cable car, the CB informed in a statement. This week’s drill sought to strengthen the response capability and coordination of the services in the possibility of an event of this kind occurring. The drill simulated a total failure of the power system, leaving two people trapped in a cabin. This led to a contingency plan of calling the CB who attended the emergency with four vehicles and a total of 40 rescuers. The rescue operation was concluded successfully in about 30 minutes.

New resting area under construction at Areia Preta

The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) have initiated construction works for a new resting zone to be located next to the heavy vehicles parking lot at Areia Preta, according to a report by Jornal Cheng Pou.  The total area of the resting zone will be approximately 6,590 square meters, comprising a children’s entertainment section of nearly 460 square meters, exercise facilities for both children and adults, a half-circle stage for outdoor photo shoots, and various other facilities. The project’s construction period is estimated to be approximately 120 days. The IACM claims that there will be no significant impact on traffic in the vicinity.

Siam Air to operate flights until Sunday

Siam Air recommenced the operation of its flights yesterday, a few days after Macau International Airport Company Ltd (CAM) confirmed the airline’s flights between Macau and Bangkok were halted for financial reasons. The Thai carrier will continue its flight operations until this Sunday only. “There will be one flight per day from Bangkok to Macau, and from Macau to Bangkok,” a CAM spokesperson wrote to the Times. The airport company is still uncertain of when the halted airline will resume its regular flights between the region and Bangkok. “At the moment we only know the airline will operate until August 1,” the spokesperson added.
