Macao Community Development Initiative (MCDI), filed a complaint yesterday to the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) regarding the conduct of the former and current officials of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT).
The group, in which lawmakers Au Kam San and Ng Kuok Cheong are key figures, claims both the former and current head of the DSSOPT as well as both Secretaries for Transport and Public Works are suspected of acts of abuse of power. This led MCDI to request the intervention of the CCAC.
The former Secretary Lau Si Io has been in the headlines lately over several issues, namely those related to the Legislative Assembly’s approval of the new Land Law that was criticized by many sectors of society. Lau’s name was also connected to the land swapping case involving the Iec Long Firecracker Factory, which was also recently investigated and deemed illegal by CCAC.
Among the names highlighted by the complaintants, particularly regarding the second case, is the former DSSOPT director, Jaime Carion, who the MCDI also seeks to be investigated.
This is the second time that MCDI has sought the investigation of several government officials related to the Land and Public Works departments, after about a week ago the association delivered a letter to the Public Prosecutor-General, Ip Son Sang, requesting that both Jaime Carion and even the former Chief Executive, Edmund Ho, be investigated in relation to Iec Long Factory case.
