The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) revealed that it plans to integrate part of the Seac Pai Van Park with the Ecological Zone of Alto de Coloane to create a botanical garden.
IACM administration committee member Leong Kun Fong estimated that the garden’s area will be around 100,000 square meters and may be launched as soon as next year.
He said that the green space would be an ecological botanical garden comprising of animals.  The IACM will introduce different species of insects. There will also be artificial streams.
Mr Leong claimed that the garden would be different from other botanical gardens in the world.
Currently, plants cover around 40 percent of the area around Seac Pai Van Park.
Leong Kun Fong believes that by improving the facilities of the park and integrating it with the ecological zoo, science will become more popular among the local population.
He also pointed out that the increase in residents near the Seac Pai Van Park means that it will be difficult for the park alone to cope with the demand of visitors.
