IMF mission visits Guinea Bissau

A mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was due to start a week-long visit to Guinea Bissau in order to update the country’s macroeconomic data, said the country’s Ministry for Finance and the Economy in a statement issued Tuesday.
The aims of the IMF mission include assessing the prospects of financial aid from Guinea Bissau’s development partners and to discuss a number of policies with the new government for the remainder of 2014.
According to the statement the mission will also provide advisory on economic policy with a view to boosting public finance management in order to prevent further delays in payments.
The delegation is due Wednesday to meet with the secretaries of state for the Treasury, José Djú and the Budget, Tomásia Manjuba.
On Friday the IMF mission will meet with the secretary of State for Planning and Regional Integration, Degol Mendes and is due to leave Guinea Bissau on 29 July. MDT/Macauhub
