MGTO ‘conservatively optimistic’ about golden week arrivals

As the city now boasts fresh attractions due to newly opened resorts, MGTO deputy director Cecilia Tse told the press that the bureau expects visitors to stay in the city longer.
“Although [the] number of tourists would probably not be higher than last year, we expect them [to] stay longer,” she said.
However, she stressed that they are “conservatively optimistic” as neighboring cities are also competitive in their efforts to attract the Chinese market.
Tse also outlined the ‘resort packages’ that have been made available to the region’s neighboring market, which have given the bureau confidence in the flow of tourist arrivals for the upcoming golden week.
