Overstaying Vietnamese accused of corruption

An unemployed Vietnamese woman has been sent for prosecution by the police, after allegedly attempting to bribe a police officer in exchange for her release last Saturday.
According to the authorities, the 38-year-old female, first name “Tran,” allegedly offered two bank notes worth MOP2,000 to a police officer who had intercepted the suspect near a convenience store in the road of Estr. Marginal do Hipodromo Macau for the purpose of checking her identification documents.
The suspect was taken to the nearest police station by the officer after he learned that she has been overstaying in the city, and that her arrival report was long overdue. On their way to the station, it was reported that, aside from her multiple requests for immediate release, the Vietnamese suspect had also forcefully slipped the two bills into the right pocket of the policeman’s raincoat.
After inquiries by the authorities, the suspect eventually admitted that she had bribed the officer in the hope of getting away.
