Rotaract Club of Macau awards trip to Nepal for best project

The 15th Goodwill Ambassador Program organized by the Rotaract Club of Macau has closed by unveiling the winning team, which won a trip to Nepal. The presentation and award ceremony took place recently at the Centro de Actividades Juvenis do Porto Exterior.

The grand winner this year was the group “Triple C”, with their humanitarian project “A Liter Of Light.”

The winning project, which was selected from four finalist submissions, aims to provide people in need with access to solar energy.

The group of four Rotaract club members won a sponsored trip to Nepal as Goodwill Ambassadors, with the purpose of meeting local and foreign Rotaractors and participating in local services that assist the needy.

The four teams had emerged as finalists after three rounds which included interviews, training and community activities. The teams were put to the test in the final round with a presentation of their projects and the results achieved, followed by a Q&A session by the judges.

This year’s theme – Humanity in Action – “had the purpose to create an awareness among teenagers about human rights problems, such as human and organ trafficking,” said the president of the organization, Matthew Wong.

The chairperson of the Organizing Committee also added, “contestants brought creativity and team spirit into full play. Their performance was impressive and outstanding.”

The competition, which reached its 15th edition this year, intends to keep youngsters engaged in community and charity activities, as well as to impart additional skills through training and information sessions.
