Sports Festival for Public Departments a success

The Sports Festival for Public Departments of 2016 ended yesterday at the Olympic Sports Centre-Stadium, as announced in a statement by the Sports Bureau (ID).  The event was organized by the Public Administration and Civic Service Bureau (SAFP) in collaboration with the ID. The competition, which started in May spanned over two months and saw the participation of over 2,900 individuals from 63 public departments. The list of 10 games included seven-side team football, basketball and table tennis, to name just a few.  Standing out among all departments, the Judiciary Police (PJ) won the dynamic award for the second year in a row.

MDC to hold summer workshop

The Macau Design Center (MDC) and the Aerial Art Association are jointly organizing a series of children’s sessions over the summer, offering kids the opportunity to exercise and learn new physical skills, according to a statement from MDC. The workshops, which will take place in July and August, follow the collaboration organized by the two entities last year. Acrobatics courses will be held for children every Tuesday and Thursday of July and August at MDC. The course will be led by Polish professor Tomasz Drzewiecki, who will instruct children in how to safely stretch, somersault and handstand, amongst other physical activities. The courses will help to develop the coordination, strength, flexibility and self-confidence of the children, as well as creative thinking, the statement adds.

Former DSAT department head denies involvement in graft case

Lou Ngai Wa, the former chief of Division of Transportation Management of the Transport Bureau (DSAT), last week denied his involvement in a corruption case involving up to MOP16 million, according to a report by TDM. Last year, the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) said Lou and another former technical instructor of the DSAT were suspected of assisting three companies in obtaining contracts for the management of public parking lots. The three companies took on a total of 54 outsourced contracts between 2012 to 2015, although the government had not held any public bids.
