Sports | Macau lands 3rd in World Junior Wushu Championships

Team Macau won five gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals in the 6th World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) held in Burgas, Bulgaria.
A total of 14 athletes visited Bulgaria for the three days of competition that took place between September 25 and October 3. Twelve  of them participated in the Taolu competition.
Team Macau was first in the categories of Taiji, Taijijian, Duilian, Nangun, and Nanquan, and was runner-up in the categories of Nandao, Qiangshu, Gunshu, Changquan, and Nangun. The third place was achieved in Jianshu, Changquan, and Nanquan categories.
Overall, Macau came third in the overall medal tally, after Iran (second place), and China (first place).
Team China accumulated 19 gold and three silver medals in total, while Iran won seven gold, seven silver and five bronze medals.
The event was attended by athletes from 51 countries. The WJWC is the official world championship for junior athletes, and it is held by the International Wushu Federation.
The WJWC features the highest competitive level within the junior (people under 18 years old) divisions of the sport. The competition also features both Taolu and Sanda events for both male and female competitors.

Five bronze medals at asian beach games

The Macau team won five bronze medals during the fifth Asian Beach Games, held in Danang, Vietnam. The games closed on Tuesday night. Hong Kong won eight medals in total; four silver medals and four bronze medals. This year, the games were attended by representatives of 41 countries, with a total participation of 2,197 athletes.
