A statement from the Health Bureau (SSM) is calling for residents who have not been vaccinated against cervical cancer to get the vaccine. The government listed the cervical cancer vaccine in its vaccination program in 2013 to reduce the rate of cervical cancer in Macau. SSM added that the validity of the cervical cancer vaccines given to female residents born after September 1, 1995 will expire on May 31, 2018. Those residents will need to be revaccinated.
Highest ovitrap recorded in June
In June, the Health Bureau (SSM) registered an average mosquito propagation index (ovitrap) of 64.1 percent, the highest value recorded this year. The number is similar to the propagation index recorded during the same period last year. The index was recorded in the Macau peninsula, with the highest values recorded in the Areia Preta and Fai Chi Kei districts at 71.4 percent and 69.1 percent, respectively. In the islands, the highest value was registered in Coloane, at 88.5 percent. SSM is urging citizens to eliminate stagnant water at home to prevent the spread of dengue fever and the Zika virus.
