The Transport Bureau (DSAT) plans to add a number of special taxis with app-based services to its operating fleet next year.
DSAT is in the process of issuing special licenses for these taxis and expects the work to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
DSAT has also asked the parties that intend to bid for the licenses to provide services only through appointments made electronically. The operators must also provide app-
based services that meet the public’s needs.
DSAT added that an additional 250 taxis will start operating in the fourth quarter of this year. Earlier, the bureau had claimed that Macau will have a total of 1,500 to 1,600 taxis by the end of this year, according to a report by Jornal do Cidadão. Current DSAT data indicates that a total of 1,080 taxis are currently operating in the city.  Staff reporter
