Briefs | Macau and Liaoning sign consumer protection protocol

The Consumer Council and Liaoning Province Consumer Association have signed a consumer protection protocol. The protocol safeguards customers in both Macau and Liaoning, where consumers can now lodge complaints at either the Consumer Council in Macau or the Consumer Association in Liaoning, if consumer disputes arise. Upon receiving a complaint, the council or association will transfer the case to the other party within 15 days to follow up accordingly. In addition, the council and the association have agreed to provide a list of “Certified Shops” and “Consumer Alerts” on their websites and the council’s WeChat account for consumers’ reference. Both parties will also carry out information exchange, staff training and promotional efforts.

‘Traditional Chinese virtues’ stamp packs to launch

The Macao Post and the Telecommunications Bureau will launch the thematic stamp pack “Traditional Chinese Virtues” on August 8. The pack will comprise three stamp issues including “Filial Love” from 2002, “Ethics and Moral Values” from 2007 and this year’s “Traditional Chinese Culture”. The stamp series intends to convey “traditional Chinese virtues” to the next generation, and spread the education and knowledge of familial love and sincerity. The packs will be available for sale at various local post offices and at the Communications Museum, and are priced at MOP90.

Macau wins three awards from travel association

Macau casino 0perators won three gold awards from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) at this year’s PATA Gold Awards. Sands China Limited won two PATA Gold Awards in the Environment – Corporate Environmental Program and Marketing Media categories, as well as Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media. Meanwhile, Melco Resorts and Entertainment won the PATA Gold Award for Marketing – Hospitality. The PATA Gold Awards luncheon and presentation will take place during PATA Travel Mart 2017, which will be held this September.  PATA is a non-profit membership association that claims to be dedicated to fostering the sustainable development of Asia-Pacific’s travel and tourism industry.
