Crime | Man stabbed in downtown mall

Macau Ginza Plaza computer shop owner has narrowly escaped an attempted murder earlier this week after a man tried to cut his neck.

The attempted murder took place on Monday at 10:40 a.m. The victim was opening his shop at the Plaza when he was attacked, sustaining a 20-centimeter-long and a 0.3-centimeter-deep cut on his neck.

The Plaza’s security reported the incident to the police. Bleeding was recorded but the victim, a 31-year-old local resident, did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

According to some witnesses, the suspect is believed to be a customer of the victim’s shop. Furthermore, the suspect is said to have had a quarrel with the computer shop owner a day prior to the attempted murder.

However, rumors immediately spread online saying that the victim was randomly chosen. After a preliminary investigation, the Judiciary Police (PJ) confirmed that the case likely involved personal issues, and was not an attempted random killing.

The director of the PJ, Chau Wai Kuong, following a police force event that took place yesterday afternoon, said that the police is still trying to catch the criminal, who is on the run.
