Brazil | Angola New ambassador defends direct maritime link

The establishment of a maritime link between Brazil and Angola is vital for enhancing bilateral trade, Brazil’s new ambassador in Angola, Norton Rapesta, recently said.
If that connection becomes a reality then Angola could become a springboard for exporting Brazilian products to other African countries and also a new “agricultural border” for Brazil, Rapesta said in comments to Angop news agency.
“We are not concerned about the trade balance, because there are other more important matters to deal with, such as logistics, direct maritime transport links between Angola and Brazil, incentive for more knowledge about Angola and attracting tourists, as those things generate business,” the ambassador underscored when explaining his mission’s priorities.
Angola is a country of opportunities which needs technology, knowledge and training, he said, adding that Brazil can provide them, because “our conditions are very similar in terms of culture, history, climate and land.”
Rapesta also announced a new approach to granting visas meant to speed up the process. He explained that his embassy’s consular services currently issue a daily average of 90 visas. MDT/Macauhub
