ands China’s Professionalism Training for Gaming Practitioners programme has trained over 1,500 team members to date, and will be further training another 3,000 team members in the next two years.
Co-organized by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) and Sands China Ltd., the programme was launched in July 2016 and was the first course of its kind in Macau for gaming employees.
“With a goal of training 7,500 team members during the first five years of the programme, we’re also glad to see the programme expanding to non-gaming departments,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd, as cited in a statement.
Programme participants attend 14 hours of training during the course, which consists of two full days in classes of 35 team members.
The coursework covers an overview of the gaming industry, civic education, occupational professionalism and responsible gaming.
Melco purchases 20 electric buses
Melco announced the purchase of 20 electric buses last week which will service passengers going to, from and between its integrated resort properties, City of Dreams, Studio City and Altira Macau.
The zero-emission fleet includes 18 tour coaches and two public bus style vehicles, and is scheduled to begin operations in May 2018, the gaming operator noted in a statement.
Initial plans will have these e-buses operating at the Macau border gate and along the Macau Ferry route.
Akiko Takahashi, executive vice president and chief officer of the Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility department of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said, “with the purchase and forthcoming operation of this zero- emission fleet, we hope to make the most effective use of resources and actively mitigate the impact of our operations on the environment.”
