Cultural Center’s main theater in use 94% of the time

The Macao Cultural Centre’s main theater has an annual average occupancy rate of 94% while the Black Box Theater has a rate of 71%, according to data from the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC). The statement comes after lawmaker Ella Lei’s written enquiry, advocating for more cultural facilities to meet the needs of local arts groups and the public. In response, IC president Delan Leong said the government is “committed to optimizing the hardware and software facilities of Macau’s cultural industry through multiple channels.” This includes creating more performance spaces and opportunities for local artists and art groups.
