The Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre continued its annual tradition by hosting the CNY Charity Tower Walk on the third day of the Chinese New Year (CNY), attracting over 2,300 participants aiming for good fortune.
The event featured two sessions: the full-course challenge “Strike it Rich” in the morning and the half-course challenge “Shortcut to Riches” in the afternoon. In the morning session, approximately 600 climbers ascended 1,298 steps to the 61st floor, competing in men’s, women’s, and youth divisions. Wong Kwok Wa won the men’s race with a time of 9 minutes and 18 seconds, while first-time participant Yeung Man Kiu took the women’s title at 11 minutes and 21 seconds. “Climbing the tower bears the auspicious blessing of continuous success,” Yeung said.
Since its introduction in 2009, the event has drawn more than 20,000 participants, raising funds for the Macau Red Cross.
