A delegation from Macau, Hong Kong and nine Chinese provinces – which together comprise the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region – is currently touring Brazil to exchange ideas on the development and application of green energy and on new resources.

In a statement from the Government Information Bureau, Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) president Jackson Cheong said the visit comes amid growing regional interest in environmental protection and eco-friendly business.

During a visit to the Operations and Management Center of the Amazonian Protection System, Cheong cited the Brazilian government’s use of technology such as data analysis to maintain the sustainability of the Amazon River area.

The delegation was briefed on the facilities and equipment used to manage water resources. Members also shared their insights, concerns, processes and challenges faced in similar projects across the Pearl River Delta area.

The tour will run from March 5 to 12, and includes a visit to Portugal as well as Brazil.

The tour has been described as “an additional step in the ongoing effort to diversify trade and economic cooperation between mainland China, Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau.”  RM
