Coloane residential project yet to be considered

The forthcoming private residential project on Estrada do Campo in Coloane has not yet been granted a construction permit by the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT), according to a statement from the Government Information Bureau.
Starting construction on any project without a building permit is against the law, stressed the bureau.
The statement said that the government has yet to issue such a permit, as the project’s developer has thus far not submitted a final construction plan that includes an environmental impact assessment, according to protesters that last month took to Coloane’s hill.
The bureau remarked that as the developer has not yet submitted finalized building plans, the criteria for applying for a construction permit have not yet been met. They added that they would give the project due consideration for approval in the event that a finalized building plan is submitted.
DSSOPT said that they would also solicit opinions from the relevant authorities when considering whether to grant the approval, but did not identify those authorities.
