Last week Sands China Ltd held its three-day Clean Plate Challenge for the second straight year, in support of World Hunger Day.
Nearly 58,000 team members completed the challenge, which forms part of the Sands ECO360° global sustainability strategy. The activity challenged team members at the company’s staff dining rooms to take only what they could eat and return a clean plate, according to a statement by Sands China.
Following the conclusion of this activity, 100 team members will participate in a Hunger Meal Experience in August, which will be organized by the Oxfam Hong Kong-Macau office. The experience is aimed at increasing their understanding of hunger issues around the world. In addition, team members had the chance to purchase rice packs and become donors to support Oxfam’s work, in a recruitment drive during the three-day event.
Held annually on May 28, World Hunger Day aims to raise public awareness about the problem of hunger and starvation worldwide.
