Hengqin’s online cross-border RMB tax service to be replicated

On July 10, the State Council released a circular on promoting 24 experiences of pilot Free Trade Zones across the country, among which, the online cross-border RMB tax service is pioneered by the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The online cross-border RMB tax service has broken through the difficulty that non-resident taxpayers have to open a bank account in the mainland or make cross-border remittances when paying taxes on their own in the past. Instead, it allows non-resident taxpayers to pay tax online via either overseas UnionPay credit card or UnionPay APP.
