Taxi injures two pedestrians after failing to stop

A traffic accident occurred on Rua do Pai Kok in Taipa on Saturday at around 5:30 p.m., when a cab driver allegedly failed to yield at a crosswalk, striking two pedestrians.

According to the Public Security Police, the victims, two mainland residents in their 20s, sustained bruises.

A video circulating on social media shows the two pedestrians about to cross the crosswalk when the driver continued driving. Authorities confirmed they were taken to Kiang Wu Hospital in Taipa for treatment.

The cab driver, a man in his 40s, was charged with failing to stop for pedestrians at a zebra crossing. Authorities reported that he passed a medical test following the incident.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.

Earlier this year, a 19-year-old secondary school student was run over by a bus, suffering an injury to his right leg while crossing a pedestrian walkway in the northern district. LV
