Macau’s government has approved the establishment of the Coloane Marina Immigration Station, a move that aims to facilitate the flow of yacht travelers in and out of the region, as part of a broader effort to enhance regional tourism cooperation.
The Official Gazette of the Macau Special Administrative Region published an administrative order, approving the creation of the Coloane Yacht Terminal Immigration Station. The station will be operational as needed and will exclusively serve individuals traveling to and from Macau by yacht.
The administrative order is set to take effect 90 days after its promulgation, marking a significant step forward in Macau’s efforts to revive the “Yacht Free Tour” project, which was previously suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The project, which was jointly launched by the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau regions in 2017, aims to enhance regional tourism cooperation and facilitate the movement of yachts across the border.
With the easing of cross-border customs clearance in Zhuhai, Macau, and other mainland cities, the local government is now working to reinvigorate the “free yacht travel” initiative, hoping to position Macau as a hub for superyacht tourism in the region. Staff Reporter
