MGTO launches new webpage for Lunar New Year celebrations

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched a new webpage yesterday that provides information on Lunar New Year (CNY) celebrations.

The page is hosted at (https://www.macaotourism.gov.mo/article/cny/celebrations-2025). It is available in Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Portuguese, and English, aiming to disclose information on all the events and activities of this year’s celebrations program to locals and visitors.

The page features various New Year activities and promotional videos presented by MGTO, the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Sports Bureau (ID), and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), among other government departments and tourism operators.

Residents and visitors can also check information about CNY activities through the “Experience Macao” mobile application and the QR code on the themed website.

In addition to the three main activities, including the Golden Dragon Parade, Float Parade, and Fireworks, the MGTO also noted the wide range of activities that will extend to the Macau Grand Prix Museum. The museum will be open to the public during the CNY holidays, including Tuesday, February 4 (the seventh day of the Lunar New Year). It will also host the Year of the Snake Calligraphy activity from January 29 to February 4.

At the extended “Illuminate Macau 2024,” visitors can attend a themed workshop on CNY and performances, among other activities, at specific times.

The temporary pedestrian zone in Taipa Old Village will also host a unique market at the outdoor car park on Rua Fernão Mendes Pinto.

As also announced, IC will open the doors to a series of cultural venues for an extended time.

Regarding sports, ID will organize “2025 CNY Festivities Recreational and Sports Activities,” which will suit families in community areas. These activities take place from the third to the twelfth day of the new year (Jan. 31 to Feb. 9) and include a “Cycling Tour,” “CNY Sports Festival,” and “CNY Motorcycle and Classic Car Parade.”

Special activities are also being prepared in collaboration with the six gaming concessionaires for the “Six Revitalization Zones,” namely Mount Fortress (Melco Resorts & Entertainment), Bazaar Pagoda (SJM Resorts), Lai Chi Vun Shipyard (Galaxy Entertainment Group), Iec Long Firecracker Factory and Taipa Houses (Sands China), Barra (MGM) and Rua da Felicidade (Wynn Macau).
