Vincent U, president of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), noted shifts in business formats globally, affecting Macau’s convention and exhibition sector. In 2024, Macau hosted 1,524 events, a 31.4% increase year-on-year, though participants dropped 17.1%. Non-gaming revenue declined 8.2%, and visitor spending fell 10.3% to 4,323 yuan. Despite this, U emphasized strong recovery, predicting increased internationalization in 2025, with a 15% rise in overseas visitors. Authorities plan to enhance industry training and collaboration with global exhibition organizations.
