The government of the Netherlands will donate 20 million euros to Mozambique to help finance the proposed expansion of the Water Supply System of Greater Maputo, said the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The donation is intended to build complementary water supply infrastructure in the region, which should serve the current 1.1 million consumers and another 650,000 people in 25 neighborhoods.
Coverage of water supply services will increase by over 26 percent in urban areas by 2019, thus meeting the goals of the Mozambican Government’s Five-Year Plan for 2015 to 2019.
Completion of the project is secured with the donation of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and includes execution of water supply infrastructure, including four distribution centers with a capacity of 2,500 cubic metres each, 200 kilometers of distribution network and 20,000 new household connections.  MDT/Macauhub
