Police received over 7,500 noise-related complaints

The Prevention and Control of Environmental Noise Law took effect one year ago. The police revealed that as of Monday over 7,500 complaints have been filed.
According to a TDM report, advice was given in response to more than 2,000 complaints, while only 45 cases advanced to prosecution.
Authorities indicated that over 5,000 of the objections were not able to be confirmed due to unclear locations or unpredictable noise sources, as well as a failure by the police to locate the people who lodged the complaint. Nevertheless, the law enforcement encountered difficulties in conducting operations, and appealed to the public to assist them by providing accurate information.
The police also said that some of the complaints were related to animals, and requested that pet owners pay greater attention to noise emanating from domestic premises.
Locations that are repeatedly reported for noise violations will be regularly inspected, according to the PSP.
