Portuguese company sets up chocolate factory in Angola

The managing director of Portuguese chocolate factory Avianense, founded in Viana do Castelo in 1914, announced the company was in talks with Angolan investors to install a unit in Luanda, as part of an investment of 5 million euros. According to Portuguese news agency Lusa the factory’s managing director, Luciano Costa, said the Angolan unit already had a design project and investors for construction of an integrated plant in the Luanda area. The plant will include its own production, under the Avianense brand, also taking advantage of the proximity to São Tomé and Príncipe to import raw materials from there, and provides for the export of chocolate to the countries in the Africa region. Costa said the future factory may start operating within four years with a daily production of 6 tons of chocolate.
