The number of Macau residents living and working in the Cooperation Zone in Hengqin rose by about 29% year-on-year at the end of August and the trips through the Hengqin checkpoint surged by 126%. The Zone also reported nearly 30% annualized growth in revenue from sizable businesses in key sectors in the first half of this year, which stood at about 8 billion yuan. The sectors include research and development, high-end manufacturing, traditional Chinese medicine, tourism, and convention and exhibition. The innovation and entrepreneurial base for Macau youth in the zone has helped incubate 701 projects.
