The total number of licensed motor vehicles in Macau reached 246,452 at the end of September 2015, up by 4.3 percent year-on-year. Motorcycles and private cars accounted for 52 and 41 percent of the total respectively.
According to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC), the new registration of motor vehicles in the first three quarters (14,757) decreased by 2.4 percent year-on-year. Traffic accident casualties totaled 394 in September, with only one fatal accident. In the first three quarters, the number of traffic accidents (11,747 cases) rose slightly by 0.1 percent year-on-­year, resulting in 4,010 injuries and 10 deaths.
DSEC also indicated that cross-­border vehicle traffic totaled 418,089 trips in September 2015, up by 4.7 percent year-on-y­ear. In the first three quarters, cross-border vehicle traffic (3,819,356 trips) increased by 4.6 percent year-on-
year, with 77.5 percent of cars crossing at the Border Gate.
Regarding passenger ferry movements between Macau and Hong Kong, and between Macau and mainland China, a total of 109,618 trips in the first three quarters shows an increase of 3.8 percent year-on-year, with the Outer Harbor Ferry Terminal involved in 66.4 percent of the total.
The Macao International Airport had 4,131 commercial flight movements in September 2015, up by 5.6 percent year-on-­year. In the first three quarters, commercial flight movements (38,702 trips) increased by 9.1 percent year-on-year, with movements to and from mainland China, Taiwan and Thailand, rising by 5.8 percent, 3.7 percent and 16.6 percent respectively.
The airport handled 2,646 tons of air cargo in September 2015, up by 4.2 percent year-on-
year. In the first three quarters, inward air cargo (5,415 tons) and outward air cargo (11,376 tons) increased by 16.1 and 4.2 percent respectively year-on-
year. Taiwan remained the major origin and destination of air cargo.

seaborne cargo on the rise

The gross weight of seaborne containerized cargo has increased by 35.8 percent year-on-year to 25,163 tons in September. According to SSEC, during the first three quarters of the year, gross weight of seaborne containerized cargo (199,290 tons) increased by 11 percent, of which 58.7 percent passed through the Ka Ho Harbor.
