The “5th Wynn Culinary Apprentice Program” Commencement Ceremony

As the Macau SAR continues to expand its tourism, hospitality, and service sectors, the importance of nurturing local talent has become increasingly clear.

Developing skills, providing educational opportunities, and supporting career growth are essential not only for individual advancement but also for the long-term sustainability of the city’s workforce.

Programs that integrate education and professional experience can help bridge gaps in workforce readiness, strengthen local industries, and create pathways for young people and employees to pursue meaningful careers.

A notable development in this regard is the Wynn Inspiring Through Talents Nurturing Program 2025, launched last month at Wynn Macau.

The program provides a multi-faceted platform for skill development and career progression, targeting both young local residents and employees seeking to further their education.

Its structure combines classroom-based learning, hands-on experience, and mentorship, demonstrating the potential impact of well-designed talent cultivation initiatives.

One key component of the program is the Wynn Return to School Program, developed in collaboration with Escola Seong Fan of the Macao Chamber of Commerce.

Participants of the “Wynn Return to School Program”

This initiative allows employees to continue secondary education while maintaining their professional responsibilities. Dedicated classrooms and flexible work schedules support participants’ studies, enabling them to pursue further education at tertiary institutions.

For Wynn, this program demonstrates a practical approach to lifelong learning, showing that continuing education can coexist with work commitments.

Participants in the program also emphasize the value of returning to school. For many, the opportunity to study while working provides both personal growth and enhanced career prospects.

Ying Li from Table Games said, “I’m grateful to the company for offering us an opportunity to return to school. This allows us to improve ourselves while balancing work and study and to better seize opportunities for future career development.”

Therefore, by equipping participants with foundational knowledge and practical skills, Wynn believes the program strengthens their capacity to contribute to the local economy in meaningful ways.

Complementing the education-focused initiative is the Wynn Culinary Apprentice Program, now in its fifth year, conducted in partnership with Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional (ELCTP) under the guidance of the Education and Youth Development Bureau.

This program aims to cultivate culinary talent through a school-corporation partnership model, providing students with both technical training and practical experience in the food and beverage industry.

Nearly 60 students have completed the program to date, gaining skills that directly enhance their employability and contribute to the local culinary sector.

Together, these programs illustrate the broader value of structured talent development.

By combining formal education, on-the-job training, and mentorship, such initiatives address skills gaps while providing participants with clear pathways for career advancement.

They also show the importance of aligning workforce development with broader policy objectives, including support for secondary and tertiary education and fostering a labor pool capable of meeting the demands of evolving industries.

Looking ahead, extending programs of this kind to include a wider range of industries and educational partnerships could offer broader benefits.

The integrated resort  believes that by providing learning and career development opportunities alongside professional experience, such initiatives contribute to building a workforce that is adaptable, skilled, and prepared for future challenges.

In a city where talent is increasingly recognized as a driver of growth, efforts to combine education with on-the-job development point to a practical and forward-looking approach.Programs like the Wynn Inspiring Through Talents Nurturing Program show that structured support for learning and skill-building can create tangible benefits for participants and, by extension, the local economy.

For Wynn, investing in people remains central to nurturing a resilient, capable, and future-ready workforce.

“The Wynn Inspiring Through Talents Nurturing Program will continue to expand its scope to more industries and educational collaborations. This will benefit more aspiring young people and employees, further fortifying Wynn’s active role in local talent and social development and fully realizing the people-centered philosophy,” the integrated resort said.
