Corporate bits | MGM Resorts International to support Hong Kong art project

MGM Resorts International will support Art Basel’s public art project in Hong Kong, strengthening its ongoing partnership with the world’s premier international art show.

The company’s multifaceted arts program, MGM Resorts Art & Culture, is a partner of the 5th edition of Art Basel in Hong Kong, held from March 23 to 25, and will support “Twenty-Five Minutes Older” by local artist Kingsley Ng.

“Twenty-Five Minutes Older” will turn two of Hong Kong’s iconic public trams into moving camera obscuras, creating an altered reality and allowing passengers to experience Hong Kong in a new way: in reverse.

Moving images of Hong Kong’s city life will be accompanied by spoken extracts from Liu Yichang’s popular novella ‘Tête-bêche,’ according to a press release issued by MGM Resorts Art & Culture.

The art project follows the success of its first presentation as part of ‘Human Vibrations: The 5th Large-Scale Public Media Art Exhibition,’ which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Arts Development Council in Hong Kong in 2016. This year, MGM Resorts and Art Basel will reintroduce the artwork to audiences during Art Basel in Hong Kong by commissioning a nine-day public exhibition presented free of charge. “Twenty-Five Minutes Older” will be presented from March 20 to 28, 2017.

BBAM donates mop60,000 to local school’s scholarship fund

The British Business Association of Macau (BBAM) presented a cheque for MOP60,000 to the School of The Nations Scholarship Fund.

The money was raised at BBAM’s 10th Anniversary Ball held last year.

The school’s principal, Vivek Nair, accepted the cheque addressed to a special scholarship account, established by the school to assist one local Macau resident student identified as needing financial support to complete his or her studies.

The donation will assist the realization of this student’s dream of attending university upon reaching 18 years of age, stated BBAM in a press release.

BBAM organizes a variety of events throughout the year, from networking evenings to business lunches, focus group working lunches to hosting visiting delegations, and arranging business matching services.
