SMG to conduct survey of Coloane air quality

The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) will conduct a two-year survey of the air quality in Coloane. The SMG will arrange temporary observation points along selected main streets in Coloane. A review of current observation points will also be made. SMG director Fong Soi Kun revealed that the number of pollutants in the air above Coloane had slightly increased during the last two years. In terms of overall air quality, this part of the territory saw a deterioration of 13 to 20 percent compared to 10 years ago. Fong also said that the department has been monitoring four kinds of pollutants in the Pearl River Delta region. Fong made the statements in a TDM radio program, where he also forecasted that the region would suffer the impact of two major typhoons during the Summer.

Maximum number of children per nursery class remains at 30

The maximum number of nursery students per class will remain at 30, according to a notice published in the Official Gazette. This order will enter into force between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2019. The maximum number of children per class had been reduced to 28 before 2014. Moreover, each child will be guaranteed a floor area of no less than 1.8 square meters within activity rooms, narrower than the 2 square meters each child was given back in 2014. The change was first made two years ago.

Man sells fake coupons for MOP15.57m

The Judiciary Police arrested a 28-year-old man yesterday for fraud. According to a report by TDM, the suspect claimed to be a businessman and offered cheap coupons for supermarkets and malls, which he did not possess. Three victims reported the incident to the police, claiming to have been cheated out of a total of MOP15.57 million. One victim had spent MOP9 million on the promised coupons. In addition to the aforementioned scam, the suspect also claimed to sell mobile phones, which he also did not possess, for half the price of the real products.
