Tourism | Macau highlighted in New York

3_1Macau’s tourist attractions were showcased at the Grand Central Terminal in New York City from October 1 to 4.  The roadshow presented the region as a tourist destination boasting a unique fusion of Western and Eastern culture through a combination of art, stage performances, and food. The display served as an opportunity for the Macau Government Tourism Office to distribute promotional material, and for local travel agents to promote their own travel packages.
The roadshow included performances of the famous lion dance, and of Portuguese folk dance, and opportunities for visitors to dress in traditional folk costumes and to take photos with the dancers. Silhouette paper-cutting in the shapes of some of Macau’s most famous tourist attractions – such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s, A-Ma Temple, and Senado Square – was also used to promote the territory.
Travellers were invited to try free samples of signature dishes from Macau, such as African Chicken Meatball, Shrimp Toast and a Portuguese Egg Tart. In addition, workshops were held to give participants the opportunity to make their own Portuguese tiles or Chinese lanterns. The four-day event was hosted at Vanderbilt Hall, which is typically used today for special exhibitions, located in the city’s major railroad station.
