Transport | Airport records 20k passengers on CNY day

2 MG_7777The Macau International Airport (MIA) revealed that it has dealt with 94,877 passengers in the first five days of Chinese New Year between February 19 and 23, signaling a growth of 18 percent compared to the same period last year. The total amount of daily passenger traffic even exceeded 20,000 people on February 22 and 23. The aircraft movements in these five days also increased by 11 percent, reaching 806.
Chinese New Year traditionally remained one of the peak seasons for travelling to and from Macau. In order to provide passengers with an enriched seasonal atmosphere, the MIA  embellished the terminal building with colorful CNY decorations. It also delivered the traditional seasonal greetings to passengers by arranging the “God of Wealth” and “Big Head Buddha” to welcome MIA passengers at the terminal building. Visitors and children were also given goat dolls and candies as part of MIA’s objective to wish travellers good fortune for the year ahead.
Moreover, the airport has invited the world-renowned “Cookin’ NANTA” show to perform in the terminal as one of MIA’s 20th anniversary celebration activities. The spectacle draws upon a storyline set in a kitchen, using kitchenware as instruments to perform a series of musical comic scenes.
