UM Fencing Team wins two silver medals

The University of Macau (UM) Fencing Team recently won two silver medals at the 21st All China University Fencing Championship, held at Tianjin Foreign Studies University. This year, the competition attracted 533 students from 32 universities across China. Zhang Mila, a fourth-year student at UM, won a silver medal in the Women’s Individual Foil Group A category. Meanwhile a four-man team comprising Guo Zegian, Ruan Yishuo, Liu Yuchen and Shi Xin won the university’s second silver medal in the Men’s Team Sabre Group A category. The team is a mix of fourth-year students, as well as a postgraduate student, Guo Zeqian, from the Faculty of Business Administration.

IPM signs agreement with Bell Cambridge

The Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) sent a delegation to Bell Educational Trust Cambridge, an English language institution, where IPM said a consensus was reached regarding the planning of English teaching in Macau. The delegation, led by IPM’s president Professor Lei Heong Iok, received a warm welcome from Chief Executive Greg Hoile. Both parties reflected on the accomplishments of their collaboration in facilitating English teaching in Macau. Lei said that he hoped that the IPM-Bell Centre of English would continue providing world-class English language training, and that it would help Macau sustain its status as a world tourism and leisure center.
