Up to 600 graduates were granted higher education degrees last Saturday by the University of Macau (UM) in an occasion that saw a record-high number of doctorate degree recipients, totaling 57. Of the total, 520 were awarded a Master’s degree while 42 obtained postgraduate diplomas.
Hugo Pinto wins local journalism award for second time
Hugo Pinto has won the Fundação Oriente (Orient Foundation) Journalism Award for a report titled “As novas regras do jogo” (literally, “The new rules of the game”). It is the second time that Mr Pinto, a journalist at Radio Macau, has won the accolade, which includes a MOP50,000 cash prize. The Orient Foundation said in a statement that the work is of “an exceptional quality,” focusing on a theme that has great social impact. Two honorable mentions were awarded to Inês Santinhos Lopes and Filipa Queiroz. The prizes will be presented at the Orient Foundation delegation in Macau (Casa Garden) next Monday at 6.30 p.m.
