Throughout December, visitors dropping by the Venetian Macao lagoon after nightfall will have the chance to experience a six-minute sound and light show which includes colorful bouncing figures shuttling between the darkness and changing lights.
Combining trampoline acrobatics, color-changing LED suits and interactive lighting, the “Infinity Bounce” trampoline performance is aimed to entrance the audience and add flair to the annual Winter in Venice carnival.
“There are going to be all kinds of surprises,” said the producer Benjamin Petel before the show’s premiere yesterday.
“[The show delivers a] combination of human physical ability and technology. It’s not just about an LED suit that can fly or just about acrobats, it’s about making them into one piece, one creation,” he explained.
The producer added that the use of computer-controlled LED suits to build a show on trampoline was an original concept from the Israeli art group Pyromania Creative Productions.
“It’s never been done before. The entire script, the music, the lighting, the suits and the choreography are all brand new,” he stressed, confirming that the creation is based on the “infinite possibilities” of the LED pixels on performers’ suits.
“We manufactured the LED suits completely from scratch, they are very sophisticated, having been computer-designed,” he said, adding that “each suit is made of 170 pixels and we can control each of them.”
Behind the six minutes of performance was an intensive month of creation and preparation. Mr Petel said that the crew was inspired to “do something that will live up to the Venetian, the high caliber of its entertainment and the amount of people that will come to see it.”
The show will begin with a “chase” between a female performer and other five acrobats, with dance movements and martial arts.
“I think it’s a mesmerizing show. From the rehearsals we’ve done so far, just when they are jumping without the suits, without anything, everybody wants to watch,” he told the Times.
“Everybody loves trampolines. People see it like kids playing. This combined with what these amazing acrobats can do and the LED suits, is something that people will stay gripped for the six minutes,” he added.
The show will take stage every evening at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. until January 4, as a highlight of this year’s Winter in Venice. BY
