The Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U called on residents to spend the Lunar New Year in Macau to help keep Covid-19 at bay. Ao delivered her remarks in an interview with TDM, which aired on January 17. She regards the tightening of control measures against Covid-19 as “appropriate” when considering the deteriorating pandemic situation in China and other countries and regions worldwide. She also impelled residents to avoid unnecessary travel and crowded gatherings.
Bib Gourmand selection includes seven eateries in town
Ahead of the full release of the Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2021 on January 27, Michelin has announced that its Bib Gourmand selection will award seven establishments in Macau. The local establishments include Chan Seng Kei, Cheong Kei, Din Tai Fung (COD), IFT Educational Restaurant, Lok Kei Noodles, Lou Kei (Fai Chi Kei) and O Castiço. The Bib Gourmand distinction is awarded to venues that offer high-quality food at budget-friendly prices, meaning diners can enjoy a quality three-course meal for a maximum price of MOP400.
Residential property transactions decrease 17%
Residential real estate transactions in 2020 have recorded a decrease of 17.4% year-on-year to 6,394 property deals, according to data published by the Financial Services Bureau. Similarly, the average price per square meter also dropped by 6.3% to around MOP102,141. The largest number transactions were again recorded in the Macau Peninsula, which totaled 4,674, while the average price per square meter dropped by 5.8% to MOP99,502.
