53 organizations participate in IFTM Career Day

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held its 2021 Career Day yesterday at its Taipa Campus, inviting 53 participating organisations from Macau and the mainland to take part. These entities exhibited some 2,000 job vacancies for graduating IFTM students.
The Career Day aimed to form a direct communications platform between students and employers, allowing students to learn more about the current job market and maximise their chances of finding a job.
Speaking to the press, Fanny Vong, president of IFTM, acknowledged that the city had been hit hard by the pandemic, therefore the vacancy rate in the tourism and hospitality industry is not high. Aside from graduating students who are choosing full-time jobs, graduates may also consider part-time jobs, internships or continuing their education.
The 53 organisations from various sectors participated in and exhibited at the event, providing employment opportunities and information, as well as information on the latest developments in the sectors of the graduating IFTM students.
Representatives from the participating organisations introduced career prospects and positions available in their companies, and arranged on-site interviews for graduating students and participants.
IFTM said that it will continue to organise career fairs and offer various kinds of support to help its graduating students with a “well-rounded” preparation program.
“We believe opportunities will increase when the pandemic continues to stay under control, allowing businesses to continue operations,” the institute said in a statement. LV
