Briefs | Gov’t to study allowing anchored yacht off from Hac-Sa coast

 

The Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) has agreed to study the possibility of allowing yachts to anchor off Hac-Sa Beach for leisure purposes. Director of the bureau, Wong Soi Man, pointed out that the bureau understands the need for yacht anchorage in that location. The director also reminded boat pilots to cruise safely at sea. Yacht owners have also expressed their opinions to the bureau on matters such as permission for cruising at night and the convenience of departure and arrival.

Macau participates in WHA virtually

As part of the Chinese delegation, Macau attends World Health Assembly (WHA) events via video-conference. This WHA focuses on all-population health coverage, oral health, antimicrobial drug resistance, preparedness for unforeseen health events, poliomyelitis and Covid-19, among other matters. Tedros Adhanom, director-general of the WHO, observed that the world is currently in “a very dangerous condition”. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong, Health Bureau director Alvis Lo and two other officials attended the opening video-conference yesterday.

Full lunar eclipse tonight

 

A full lunar eclipse lasting three hours will be viewable in Macau tonight, the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau has advised. The best direction for viewing is towards the East and Southeast. The phenomenon will commence early evening and will last for about three hours, although the moon will rise being eclipsed. Peak eclipse will happen between
7:10 p.m. and 7:29 p.m. The eclipse will end at 9:52 p.m. Meanwhile, there will be a supermoon tonight, the moon appearing 7% larger than normal. On November 19, there will be a partial lunar eclipse.
