ID: Chinese Olympic medalists may visit city mid-December

 

Following communications with the General Administration of Sport, while details are unconfirmed, Macau residents may expect to see Chinese Olympics athletes in the city in December, Pun Weng Kun, president of the Sports Bureau (ID), disclosed yesterday on the sidelines of an event. Pun added that he believes the national athletic delegation’s visit would promote patriotism across the city, while advancing a local focus on sports and exercise. The delegatory tour has taken place multiple times after past Olympic Games. Apart from city tours, mainland athletes will also conduct exchange sessions with local athletes and students.

UM team wins award in big data competition

The Smart Energy Research Group of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, University of Macau (UM), won an Award of Excellence and a Best Mentor award at the 2021 X-Game Shanghai New Energy Vehicle Big Data Competition. The UM team was comprised of PhD student Kong Lingming and master’s student Zhang Jinxi, as well as assistant professor Zhang Hongcai and associate professor Dai Ningyi, who acted as their mentors. According to a statement, total of 550 teams formed by 754 students from 179 universities around the world, including Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Tongji University, participated in the online preliminaries.
