Two residents have died by suicide in the span of just two days, and the Judiciary Police is now investigating the cases.
In a building along Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira, a 74-year-old resident was found hanged in their bathroom at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The discovery came after a neighbor noticed a bad smell.
After examination of the body, the PJ stated that the body, though decomposed, had obvious strangulation marks on the neck, and estimated the person had died some time ago.
No suicide note was found.
Separately, the PJ reported that on Monday, a 31-year-old female resident was found hanged in a residential building along Avenida do Almirante Lacerda.
The PJ did not find any suspicious injuries on the deceased woman’s body and no suicide note was found.
According to the statement, the woman lived with her family, who were out shopping when she died.
