Composite rates for MOP slightly up by 0.56%

The funding costs for the local banking sector generally increased in the second quarter of 2022, according to statistics released by the Monetary Authority of Macao. At end-June 2022, the composite interest rates for MOP and HKD rose 6 basis points and 18 basis points, from 0.50% and 0.87% at end-March 2022 to 0.56% and 1.05%, respectively. 

Applications for Tap Seac market stalls and workshops open

The Cultural Affairs Bureau is calling for stall operators and creative handicraft workshops for the upcoming Tap Seac Craft Market to be held from November 17 to 20 and November 24 to 27. The deadline for applications is September 14. There will be 133 handicraft and creative gastronomy stalls at this upcoming market. All products presented for sale in the proposal must be original designs, with a minimum of 10 models available for sale.

Elderly woman dies from fall

A 67-year-old woman was found dead after falling from a height, according to a statement issued by the Judiciary Police (PJ). According to the police, the discovery came after a resident found the elderly woman lying on the floor and immediately reported the matter to the PJ. No suicide note was found at the scene. The case has temporarily been classified as a body discovery case.

SAR organizes session to promote economic diversification

The “Macao Urban Transformation and Development Dialogue” is set to be held on August 30, with both online and offline elements. Organized by the SAR and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the aim of the event is to facilitate Macau’s integration into the “overall development of the country,” and to improve the appropriate diversification of Macau’s economy, according to a statement.  The dialogue will feature speakers from abroad such as Dubai, Luxembourg, Seoul and Tokyo, as well as representatives from mainland China and Macau.
